Supporting you whilst in Hospital

Being in hospital with a complex or life-limiting illness can be a difficult time. Our Palliative Care Clinical Nurse Specialists (CNS) play a key role in supporting you during your stay.

While many people associate palliative care exclusively with end-of-life, our primary focus is always on improving your quality of life right now. We are here to support you, provide guidance to your loved ones, and work alongside the wider hospital clinical team to ensure you receive the best possible care.

If you or a loved one is currently in the hospital and feel you would benefit from the support of a Palliative Care CNS, please speak to your hospital doctor, consultant or the ward manager. They can arrange a referral directly to our team.

How our Clinical Nurse Specialists can help:

Easing Difficult Symptoms

We help assess and manage physical and emotional symptoms, including pain, breathlessness, nausea, vomiting, fatigue, anxiety, and agitation.

Working With Your Medical Team

We work closely with your main hospital team to adjust medication and tailor your care plan to your specific needs.

Advance Care Planning

We will support you and your family in understanding your condition, answering difficult questions, and helping you plan for the future.

Comfort-Focused Care

If you have been referred to us as you near the end of your life, our Clinical Nurse Specialists will be there to ensure your care is entirely comfort-focused. We are dedicated to providing compassionate, dignified support for you and a reassuring presence for your loved ones during that time.
